The Gel Electrophoresis Apparatus are used in order to cast and run aggarose gels to separate out DNA fragments based on size. We have 2 sizes of gel boxes, large (drawer 65) and small (drawer 63). Large boxes have combs for 12, 20 and 25 wells and should be run at 160V or lower. Small boxes have combs for 12 wells and should be run at 100V or lower.

Location: Drawers 63 and 65

Notes and Warning: DO NOT run these gels at a higher voltage that listed above. DO NOT ever reach your hand into the chambers of the gel box. The wire that runs the current is incredibly fragile and will break.

Equipment maintenance: After use, rinse thoroughly with diH2O and allow to air dry near the sink (do not place on pegs!). Put away when dry.
