TAE

Description


TAE is made up of tris base, acetate, and EDTA. We use three concentrations in lab: 1X, 10X, and 50X. We use 1X TAE when running gels.

50X TAE Recipe (1L)

Materials Amount Final Concentration
Tris base 242g 2M
glacial acetic acid 57.1 mL 1M
EDTA 100mL of 0.5M 100mM
milliQ water up to a liter
Directions
  1. Mix tris base, acetic acid, and EDTA.
  2. Add milliQ water up to the 1L mark.
  3. Transfer to an autoclave-safe bottle.
  4. Autoclave.
