50% Glucose
Description
The stock solution of D-glucose that we keep on hand is 50% (w/v) Glucose. This is used when making a number of yeast media recipes including, YPD liquid media, YPD plates, and all of our synthetic and drop-out media recipes.
Location:Shelf L
Directions
You will need a labeled beaker that will fit your final volume of media and a graduated cylinder
Place a stirbar into the beaker and add about 1/4 the final volume of milliQ Water
Turn on the stir bar and the hot plate (on low, the water should be warm, not hot or boiling)
Weigh out the appropriate amount of D-glucose. You will have to use multiple weigh boats so please keep track of how much you have weighed.
SLOWLY add the glucose in. I recommend adding a little at a time and coming back when the solution is clear, then adding more. This will take a while. If you just dump in the glucose, you will create a rock that will take forever to dissolve
When all of the glucose is added, add milliQ water to the appropriate volume
