Description

The lab has 2 heat blocks that are kept at 2 different temperatures. One is at 42°C and is used during transformations for the heat shock step. The other is set to 95°C and is used to boil salmon sperm during transformations. Always check the temperature of the heat block before starting on a protocol in case you need to make any adjustments. If you need to change the temperature of a block, be sure the change it back to 42°C or 95°C as soon as you are done.

Location: Center of main lab bench

Notes and Warning: The 95°C Heat Block is incredibly hot, do not touch! Do not place any plates near the heat block. It will melt and warp the agar.

Equipment maintenance: Clean up any spills immediately. Use a tube tab in order to avoid tubes popping open.
