0.5M EDTA is used to make 50x TAE and 10x TE Buffer.

Directions

• Grab a beaker of the appropriate size and add a stir bar
• Add about 1/4 of the final volume of miliQ Water
• Add the appropriate amount of EDTA and the NaOH.
• Adjust volume to about 100mL below your final volume
• Adjust the pH of your solution to 8 using 50% NaOH. Your solution will not fully dissolve until you reach pH 8.
• Add milliQ Water to meet your final volume
• Transfer the solution into labeled bottles
• Autoclave
