The vacuum pump is used in order to aspirate out supernatants, vacuum filter reagents, or for the vacuum manifold that is used in the Mini Prep protocol.

**Location:**Fume Hood

**Notes and Warning:** Always remove the small black cap and cover the vent with a 50mL conical tube before starting. This will prevent aerosolized oil drops from getting into your sample. 

**Equipment maintenance:** Fill oil to line as needed. Oil lives behind the pump and under the hood
