Ampicillin is used in the lab for bacteria that has a plasmid that can be selected for AMP resistance.  


**Location:** -20°C Freezer


===== Media Recipe and Directions=====

**Directions** 

  * In a[[15ml_centrifuge_tubes|15mL]] centrifuge tube, add 1/4 the final volume of dH20 (aliquoted baxter water)
  * Add the appropriate amount of ampicillin
  * Add water to the final volume
  * Vortex to mix
  * [[filter_sterilizing_stocks|Filter sterilize]] into a clean, labeled tube
  * Aliquot the solution-1mL into labeled flip top tubes and store in the -20ºC Drug stock box
